Private Lessons
One-to-One Guitar Tuition, Tailored to Your Interests
Lessons are available in guitar, drums, mandolin, ukulele and bass guitar.
In our £10 trial lesson, you’ll get an idea of what to expect from my course. I’ll learn a bit about you, what level you’re at and what you want to get out of the lessons. And most importantly, we’ll get you playing the instrument straight away.
In my opinion, the most important part of learning an instrument is to enjoy playing and be creative. I will tailor my lessons to your individual needs and tastes, and keep the right level of challenge in order to keep you steadily progressing.
Students of all ages, levels and abilities are welcome, including absolute beginners. If you’re not a beginner but you want to brush up on your playing, we’ll see where you’re at from the trial lesson. Feel free to get in touch if you have particular needs or interests.
To see the best progress, I recommend you take at least one lesson a week.

Teaching Experience
I’ve been teaching guitar in London six days a week for nearly a decade. In that time I’ve taught beginners, improvers and professionals, adults and kids, one-to-one, or in pairs and groups, for lessons ranging from one hour or half an hour to six hours!
Whatever you’re interested in for your guitar lessons, I’d love to hear from you.
Online & In-Person Lessons
Learning guitar online with me is simple and convenient. There’s nothing to prepare or download, all you have to do is decide on a time, then connect to the lesson by simply pasting a link into your browser. It works on desktop, laptop, tablet or even phone!
I take full advantage of the online environment, using visual notes and fretboard close-ups to make the experience extra clear and easy to follow. After the lesson you’ll get a tailored write up of everything we covered, including all you need to practice in the week.
If you’d prefer lessons in-person, I teach in Leytonstone, East London and the surrounding areas. You can come to me or I can come to you.
If you do want lessons at your location, remember that you’ll need your own equipment (guitar etc). Also, transportation costs including travel time and ticket fare must be taken into account.
Thanks and I look forward to meeting you soon!

Feedback
From Charlotte (5/5): Rory is a fantastic teacher, taking the time to tailor each lesson beforehand and then further alter his plans or break-down difficult sections if I find things hard to pick up. I already feel like I’ve learnt more with Rory in the first few lessons than I did in years of messing around with the guitar by myself!
Very much recommended.
From Michael (5/5): Lessons with Rory go so quickly as they are enjoyable and I learn something every week. Rory quickly follows through with a reminder of what I am to practice and I feel that I am making good progress.
From Ben (5/5): Rory is a very dedicated music teacher who demonstrates a breadth of specialist knowledge, especially in guitar playing. He teaches his students how to play guitar in an easily digestible way. His learning aids are very professionally put together and he is always highly organised in communication and forwarding lesson notes to be worked on in his students free time. Highly recommended.
From Aidan (5/5): Rory is a lovely guy, very friendly and pleasant to be around, plus has a really clear and concise teaching method on any aspect of guitar playing and music theory you care to mention, and writes up notes on what you covered in lessons on an individual basis.
Would highly recommend.
From Claire (5/5): Rory is punctual and polite. He is innovative in coming up with ways to keep my child enthused about the guitar mixing techniques and types of music.
From Safiyah (5/5): Great teacher and really encouraging. I’ve only had 2 lessons but have learnt so much already. I like his style of teaching and how he’s understanding!
I definitely recommend!
From Khalid (5/5): I have had a lot of guitar teachers over the years to try and get me playing regularly and inspire me (I’m a beginner and my problem has always been that I get bored easily, impatient and can’t manage my own expectations properly and I want to become a rock star overnight). None have inspired me more than Rory. Really patient and calm and explains the theoretical aspects of guitar playing really well.
The stuff we practise both in lessons and what he sets me for homework are fun and motivates me to keep playing. None of my previous teachers were ever able to do that. He gives me specially made notes on what we have covered in each lesson for me to look at and practise, colourful and well laid out for a beginner like me who needs that. Each week progresses in a logical way where I understand how it’s helping me take the next step. I can’t recommend Rory highly enough!
From Ian (5/5): Rory was very attentive to what I wanted to get from the lessons, he was very supportive and patient. On first impressions I would heartily recommend him.
From Sayan (5/5): Rory is an excellent teacher of mandolin. He knows his stuff well. He is very professional in his teaching but flexible at the same time. He does homework before every class and design the lessons. I would recommend Rory to any Mandolin student in London.
From David (5/5): As a first time music student, I have found Rory to be excellent. Not only is he a talented musician in his own right, Rory’s teaching technique is first-class and just right for a novice like me. I would strongly recommend Rory.
From Mark (5/5): Rory has been a great tutor so far. Each one of our lessons have been tailored to my needs and I can already see real progress in the short time that I have been learning. Would highly recommend.
From Gary (5/5): Well organised and an experienced tutor. Knows how to structure lessons to keep challenging student whilst keeping lesson enjoyable. Method of teaching is trusted and listens to student feedback and adapts when required. Very good tutor.
From Connor (5/5): Rory is a wonderful teacher with a real talent for engaging with his students. He’s got an incredible breadth of knowledge in multiple styles and instruments, and puts a lot of work into each lesson. He’s also just a great guy to chat with too! Would definitely recommend.
From Kirsty (5/5): Rory takes the time to prepare my lessons well and tailors them to meet my needs and style. He is patient and I find his lessons enjoyable and easy to follow. Rory also prepares lesson notes and materials so that I can practice. He is flexible in his lesson times and is very reliable. I thoroughly enjoy my lessons and feel that I have made great progress. I highly recommend Rory!
